Out with Spring: How to Make Seasonal Transitions Quick and Easy!

Y’all… Can I just tell you how completely and utterly tired I am?? Between cleaning out my classroom (I left teaching in the middle of the year so I am just now getting everything since school is out), cleaning my house and taking all of my spring decorations down (hence the post), taking care of an 8 month old, and just doing day to day tasks like dishes, laundry, cooking, etc.! Whew! I.AM.SPENT!
Okay, now that I got that out, lol! I will be honest, I am going to try to make this one short and sweet because I am tired and I know y’all are busy too!

When one season is ending and I am getting ready to decorate for the new season I like to make things as simple as possible (it doesn’t always go as planned, but hey you can try, right!?)! So here is how I go about it!
First off I get out my totes. Walmart always has them for cheap, or you can check out the ones below from Amazon (it’s always nice to have it come straight to your door!). I try to color code them according to season AND I have also organized my garage in order of decorating season lol. It goes: Christmas, Winter, Spring, Summer, Halloween, Fall. I would show you a photo, but my husbands fun car (which is currently without a functioning clutch, therefore isn’t moving) is kind of in the way... However, this makes it way easier to find things you are looking for!

These are the totes I use. Purple for spring. Also, if you aren’t able to color code them, or you have old totes you want to reuse, my secret for labeling them is to use chalk! That way you can easily wipe it off and write something else on there if you want to change the contents later on!
Next, I take down all the flowers. I try to keep all the flowers together and sometimes I even put them in a separate container in case I want to use them in a different season. This time I put them in with spring décor except the ones I thought I might use for summer.
After that, I take down any detail decoration. By this I mean any small pieces… for example doing shabby chic décor this spring I used lace and pearls in different places, so I picked all of that up and put it in a separate bag to keep it from getting tangled up.
Next, I take down and package any breakables. I try to put anything breakable in one container so I know where it’s at and to be careful with it! You can use bubble wrap to wrap these items, which I have ordered from amazon in the past. Or you can be cheap like me and use newspaper and plastic grocery bags 😊.
I then take down the remainder of the smaller décor. This includes silver/pewter trays, non-breakable candle holders, books, etc. These go in a different container. You can also organize your items by room or table if you like to do it the same way every time, but this way I feel like it gives me the opportunity to remake my spring decorations in a whole new way!
Then I remove any larger items or standing items. This includes pictures or wall hangings, small tables, crates, etc. I removed more of this than usual this time because I have a munchkin who is already a bit mobile, but about to be much more so! I will be doing a blog on baby-proofing soon!
Lastly I store everything neatly in the garage. Obviously you store it wherever is convenient for you! Like I mentioned earlier I try to keep the totes and items in order so they are easier to find! I also do a good cleaning while everything is down!

Now everything looks pretty bare, I will probably decorate tomorrow. I am going back to farmhouse décor for summer, maybe adding some primitive patriotic flare… we will see! 😊 I will also be doing a blog soon (or so is the plan!) on farmhouse style kitchen storage on a budget! Hopefully I will be able to start my research for this
soon! 😊

Alright y’all! Short, sweet and to the point! Please let me know if you have any questions! I would love to hear from you! Have a good one, and STAY COOL!!
