Bedroom Makeover on a Budget

Hey y'all! Sorry I missed last Wednesday again! All I can say is... mom life! It is currently 9:40pm and I just put my 9 month old down in her crib for the 3rd time and I'm pretty sure I hear her up moving around again! (Insert hand over face emoji here! :-p)
Anyway, the weekend before last, my hubby and I did a bedroom makeover! Okay well he painted the accent wall and I did everything else lol.

This all started because I always feel like I just kind of throw random things that I am not using into the bedroom with no rhyme or reason. I was bored of it always looking the same and wanted a change! I found this photo on Pinterest one night... I'm pretty sure it was the first one I saw when looking for bedroom ideas... and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to do something similar! I loved the boho look and I loved the idea of incorporating plants! So this is what I decided to go for!
(P.S. I just got up to make a third bottle for this girl... smh... she has to be going through a growth spurt!)
One night I convinced my husband to go to The Christmas Tree Shop with me to look for some new bedroom decor. If you have one of these stores anywhere near you and you haven't been you NEED to go! This is where I get most of my staging decor as well! The name can be a little deceiving, but they do have much more than Christmas trees! lol

While we were there I found this piece of wall decor! They had it in an off white (this one) and also a darker wood color. I really liked the white one, but I told my husband that it would only work if we painted the wall because it wouldn't look good on our already whitish-beige walls.... this is where I convinced him to paint the wall :-D. (I absolutely refuse to do any home interior painting anymore after a few attempts at my old house... I totally hate it and do not have the patience for it lol.)
Anyhow, that is when I decided the wall would get painted. I originally thought about going with green, but most decorative items I found that I really like incorporated some shade of blue.

I also found this quilt at Target that I fell in love with, which confirmed my thoughts of doing a blue and orange color scheme!
I have to be honest though. Although I did attempt to stay on a budget, and depending what you consider being "on budget", I did spend more than I intended to for the makeover! I didn't originally intend to get a new quilt, however, I did intend to get new curtains (which I may still do eventually), but didn't need to since they are blue and they went with the decor! I would say all together including paint, art, bedspread, sheets, plants, pillows, etc. I spent about $300 and that was with trading some items with a friend who runs an antique shop! Though for an entirely new look, that's not too bad!

So I had the piece of wooden wall decor I knew I was going to hang above the bed and I knew I was going to hang a shelf above that for plants. Well, one day I went into Gabes (also called Gabriel Brothers in some places, this is my favorite store back home and I was so excited when we got one here, I find tons of goods there for super cheap!) and found these metal circles with a piece of burlap and a letter on them! I was originally going to get a G for our last name, but they didn't have one, so I decided to get an A and an R for the first letter of our first names to hang over our sides of the bed! I honestly wasn't sold on this idea until I put everything together and saw how it looked! I think it was one thing that made me love the room even more!

Besides that I found some great clearance pieces at Hobby Lobby, mostly plants and planters, and also those awesome boho style birds I have on the ends of the shelf with the plants! I also got the round side table there!

In this picture to the right you see the mirror at the top. I picked that guy up at an estate sale! I wasn't exactly sure what I would do with it at the time, but once I decided on my colors I knew how I wanted to paint it! I will show the before and after below! The two candles on top of the crate/shelf I already had but they had a pattern that matched well with the look of the room. That vintage crate is one I received from Leclair's when I traded him some vintage items that I had! The plant is one I purchased from Gabes and the candlesticks are from an estate sale! I purchased an entire box of brass items (mostly candlesticks) and decided to paint them all to match the room! The tapestry I got from AC Moore on Clearance for $9 and the pillow was from Ross for $6.50! I have had that little stool it is on forever!

Here is the dresser! I used the two tin pails I had on the wall previously to set on top with some added greenery! I also purchased the little sign that says Love Grows Here from AC Moore on Clearance for about $2.50! The two gray candlesticks were from AC Moore and I believe they were about $3 a piece. The candles were from Gabes for $5 each, and off to the side you can see some little vases and candlesticks. These were also out of the box of brass that I had painted! Anything else you see was already in the room previously!

This setup is similar to how it was before, I just added some plants, candles, and my fun little watering can to the shelf, along with taking the magazines off the ladder and adding the plants! Almost everything you see in this picture (two orange bottles, blue bowl, white and blue planter, and the white planter and plant in it) were all from Hobby Lobby! I got the adorable watering can from HomeGoods for about $3!
Well that about sums it up! Below you will see the before and after photos! If you have any questions about anything or would like to share your room makeover photos and/or stories, I would love to see them! :)

Until next time!
Ohh next Wednesday I will be in Waco, Texas visiting Magnolia Market with a friend! :-D Soo I will not be posting next Wednesday, but hopefully the Wednesday after I will have a fabulous post to share! :)
