The Story Behind A Vintage Life

The business, A Vintage Life, was created out of a sincere passion for vintage goods. Growing up, I spent a lot of time going to antique stores, flea market and thrift shops with my mom, which is where, I suppose, my passion began. Ever since I discovered pieces from the past and began learning more about the history behind them and how they were used, I became more and more intrigued by them. Finding new pieces began to inspire me to learn more about the era they came from. I began incorporating different pieces into my home decor to instill a sense of nostalgia and simplicity. Eventually, people realized my passion and would ask me for help if they were looking for a certain piece or something to add to their home decor. This, along with the sheer excitement of imagining “a day in the life” of an earlier and simpler era, and my passion for incorporating that into my own life and the life of others... inspired the launch of A Vintage Life.
The logo for A Vintage Life incorporates the number 13... my lucky number. When trying to come up with the idea for a logo, I kept coming back to a postage stamp. After talking to a coach I had been working with who encouraged me to make the logo more consistent and meaningful, I decided to do some research on the postage stamp and the year 1913. Turns out, January 1st, 1913 was when the post office began parcel post service! Well there ya go! I hired a designer to create the logo for me in the orange/red hue that had that vintage feel. At one point though, as some of you may remember, I considered changing it to green, but after getting lots of feedback and thinking it over, I decided to stick with the red!
Right now I don’t have a physical shop, but sell from my website, avintagelife13.com, through facebook, as well as by word of mouth. There is a plan in the works to open an actual storefront in the future, but a lot needs to be done before that can happen. I truly appreciate everyone who likes and follows my page, has purchased items from my shop, and those who encourage me through this journey on... A Vintage Life!
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for all you do!
Love,
Amanda (Your Vintage Life Girl)
